Conservative atheist dating
I'd bet that if you talked to the Christians who use a site like Christian Mingle, they would say that they like it because it increases their chances of finding a partner who shares their values. On the surface, there really isn't anything wrong with that. Beneath the surface, though, an assumption is being made: other Christians are more likely to share one Christian's values than non-Christians.This is also why some online dating services have decided to specialize by catering only to a particular niche market. In fact, this practice is becoming so common that it no longer seems controversial. Christians Only Have you seen those ads for a Christian-only online dating service called Christian Mingle.com?Dating is a daunting process, especially for those of us who do not have the luxury of being in a setting designed to facilitate it (e.g., high school, college, etc.). Wouldn't it be great to have an efficient way of sifting through eligible partners to maximize one's chances of finding a good match? This is why online dating sites are constantly promoting their personality questionnaires, compatibility algorithms, and the like. The American Atheists are losing out on the chance to hand out keychains to a massive group of conservative Christians. There seems to be a misalignment between CPAC, which is fundamentally a political summit, and the group's mission: "Fighting for the civil liberties of atheists and the total, absolute separation of government and religion." [Emphasis added.] Perhaps the organization sees the GOP as an untapped source of potential allies in government—it's always helpful when people in Congress have your back, even if you want them to stay out of religious matters.
My initial response was something along the lines of, "I guess such a fragile worldview must be insulated against reality as much as possible." But on second thought, I've decided that it probably isn't quite that simple.
However, while religious believers use fear of eternal torture and bribes of eternal paradise to get followers to pony up lots of cash, atheists tend not to support our interests financially and are even critical of fellow atheists even asking for money. You can support your favorite atheists even if you don’t have money to spare.
Religious organizations are not only tax exempt, but they also have a huge money advantage to start out with. So next time you are on a blog (including this one), You Tube channel, Podcast, etc. We need to rally around fellow atheists politically! The criticism I always get is that not all atheists share the same values. In theory that is certainly true; Ayn Rand was a Libertarian Republican and Karl Rove is an atheist…
"It is an attack on God Himself."This was how Brent Bozell, founder of the conservative Media Research Center, felt about the prospect of representatives from the American Atheists attending the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference, the annual gathering of conservative leaders and organizations in Washington, D. On Tuesday, the Atheists announced they would host a booth at the conference next week; within hours, they had been disinvited.
The group "misrepresented itself about their willingness to engage in positive dialogue and work together to promote limited government," a CPAC spokesperson told the yesterday. "America’s religious conservatives can deny it all they want, but soon they’re going to realize that ignoring the growing number of atheist constituents is a losing proposition,” the organization's president, David Silverman, said in a press release.
